NYFA LA COVID-19 Updates:
All are encouraged to read recent communication with the NYFA LA community, including the NYFA Community Health and Safety Report and NYFA LA’s Spring Semester Updates.
Spring Semester classes started online on January 19. At this time, NYFA LA has not been given permission to resume in-person classes on campus. We hoped LA County would grant permission for in-person classes to begin on campus on February 8, however this does not seem likely. We continue to attend telebriefings with LA County and when NYFA LA receives permission to resume in-person classes on campus, we will notify the NYFA LA community.
Off-site production workshops are anticipated to resume in February. We are monitoring LA County Public Health Department recommendations, which currently are advising all production to pause while metrics are high and ICU beds are scarce. When off-site productions begin, students and staff will need to submit a negative COVID-19 PCR-RT test for each week that they are participating in in-person activities. Test results should be emailed to covidteamla@nyfa.edu. See more in the COVID Protocols and In-Person Attendance.
The news about the COVID-19 vaccine is encouraging. Distribution in the US is currently being managed state by state. LA County is updating information about distribution plans regularly. Currently, LA County has opened registration for vaccination to residents 65 and older.
If you have any questions about the information in this LA Campus Update, please email RemoteLearningLA@nyfa.edu.
